When summer finishes, kids go back to school to learn and grow individually. Today I want to talk about three very important reasons why mixed martial arts training can help a student do better in school.
Students learn to focus in a different environment:-
Before a student learns techniques or forms, he must learn to focus. At our Telford and Shrewsbury based Roar Academy, this is the first lesson, I tell students that paying attention means watching and listening. With everything we do, I remind the students that if they want to do better, try to focus on the whole class. Martial art schools introduce practical skills while teaching strong and fun land mechanics.
Provides a Physical development:-
Being in a classroom for long hours a day is not something a small child can do. In mixed martial art schools, children develop their minds faster while keeping themselves more active. Students can also use their bodies in ways that are not accepted by the school by knocking, kicking, etc. These skills are transferable to other sports and personal development outside of school. Children need opportunities to be physical, and mixed martial arts provides a safe environment for them to do so.
Students learn without class pressure:-
I like to remind my students that the best combination you can have is energy and intelligence. In the arts, students are encouraged to learn on their own. We do group work and drills together, then separate to do different techniques. When students are separated, they learn how to work on themselves and work on themselves to improve. Yes, we test the students, but it’s not about the belt or how long it takes to learn everything for the test. It’s a martial arts journey, and no one’s journey is the same. Students are not judged by the performance of others. They succeed in their own way.
Another thing I like is talking to parents about how their students are doing at school. When it is time for the student to test in my Roar Academy at Telford and Shrewsbury, the parents must sign that they are active there at school and at home. This makes them accountable for their behaviour even when not in the academy. I have seen that students can learn who they are and what they are capable of through martial arts.
